Eric Swearengin is a self represented artist from Southeast Michigan, in the United States. He is a self taught artist that has worked in several mediums using both drawing and painting techniques since childhood.

His preferences include; charcoal, pastel, pen and ink, painting on canvas and is experienced in painting on walls as a muralist. Oil paint is primarily the his painting medium of choice.

The words used to describe Eric Swearengin’s art include; Abstract, Surrealism and Visionary-Impressionism. Subjects of art include figurative and landscape. The Abstract and contemporary work focuses on shapes, colors and movement that provoke emotion. Most of the paintings are on larger size canvas.

Some of the oil paintings on canvas are created using a drying and layering technique that he refers to as “Light Sensitive”. This collection of work will change color with the lighting in the room.

Eric Swearengin created a collection Pen and Ink's called the Art of Wreckless Drawing. The pen and ink collection was put out into print with limited reproductions in the late 1990’s.

The Pen and Ink Collection consisting of twenty separate works. Each are done in a black and white contemporary fashion that can be displayed in most any color scheme or style. The attraction to this work is the reckless and sporadic hairline scribbles when up close. When you step away from the picture, the scribbling forms into a detailed and well-defined piece of work. This work has been a great success. To keep from working on repetitious recreations, the pen and ink collection was put into print.

Eric Swearengin has been in many juried art shows and has displayed his work in galleries in the Southeast Michigan area. Most of his work was done privately for hire. He has created illustrations for the Detroit news paper and the published novel titled "Larry; written by By Lawrence J Birk - Published by iUniverse, Inc. Eric Swearengin has done work for Michigan’s Laurel Park place mall, The Detroit Institute of Arts, The Chrysler Corporation.
